5 Great Things To Do In Winter Park, Florida

Located just outside of Orlando, Winter Park is a lovely community with beautiful outdoor spaces and lakes. 1. Central Park

If you’re looking for somewhere pleasant to relax and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather, check out Central Park in Winter Park. Considered the jewel of the city, the park features a large dancing fountain and a lovely canopy of oak trees. There is also a breathtaking rose garden to enjoy. Leafy Central Park is located at 251 S. Park Avenue in Winter Park, Florida.

2. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art

The Morse Museum showcases spectacular glass art by Louis Comfort Tiffany. In fact, it is the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Tiffany. It includes his famous leaded-glass lamps and windows, jewelry, paintings, pottery, as well as the amazing chapel interior from the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Visit at 445 North Park Avenue, Winter Park, FL, from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sundays. The museum is also open until 8:00 p.m. on Friday’s, November through April.

3. Mead Botanical Gardens

The Mead Botanical Gardens is a vast urban oasis that will take your breath away. Stroll 48 acres of gardens, trails, groves, and boardwalks. You’ll experience gorgeous natural habitats and the incredible variety of flora and fauna that thrives in central Florida. An incredible array of programming is offered, including:

  • community gardening
  • summer camps
  • horticulture in the greenhouse
  • guided bird walks
  • herb walks
  • fantasy walks
  • classroom field trips

It’s also a popular place for yoga and Tai Chi. Experience a special way to interact with nature in the heart of the city. Mead Botanical Gardens are open daily from dawn to dusk and is free to the public, located at 1300 S. Denning Drive, Winter Park, FL. Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.

4. Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens

The grounds of the Albin Polasek Museum features exquisite art, scenic gardens, and a historic home. The entire space displays work by the notable Czech-American artist. Overlooking Lake Osceola, the museum’s seeks to enrich lives through the power of inspiration. The recently rescued and renovated Capen-Showalter House contains Polasek artwork, exhibits, and is available to rent for meetings and private functions. Visit the museum and grounds at 633 Osceola Avenue Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sundays 1 until 4 p.m.

5. Cornell Fine Arts Museum

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum is located on the campus of Rollins College. It boasts one of the oldest collections of art in Florida, including the only Old Master’s collection in the Orlando area. Experience works by Henri Moore, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and many more. It is a teaching museum that also features permanent collection that spans centuries, rotating exhibitions, and a variety of ongoing programs. The museum is open Tuesdays 10 a.m until 7 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 10 a.m until 4 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays noon until 5 p.m. Located at 1000 Holt Avenue, Winter Park, Florida.
